Top Ten Tuesday - Top Ten 2014 Releases I'm Dying to Read

Welcome back! We've got another Top Ten Tuesday here today, which is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and The Bookish. This week's topic is the Top Ten 2014 Releases I can't wait for. I have a can't wait books of 2014 Goodreads shelf that has over 20 books and so narrowing it down to 10 books is certainly a challenge, but here are the 10 picks.
I was actually able to put these in order, so these are my top 10 picks in order, although having to narrow it down to these was already a task!

no. 10 - Burn Bright by Bethany Frenette
This is the sequel to Dark Star, which was totally different for me to read. It's supernatural meets superheroes and that made it a stand out YA to me. I can't wait to see what else happens with Audrey!

no. 9 - 3rd Book in the Gilded Wings series by Aimee Agresti
This is another sequel to a very different sort of YA novel. This series is completely different from what I've read, and after the ending of Infatuate- there is a lot about to happen in this book. Currently, there is no title on Goodreads, but this is the third book in the series with Illuminate and Infatuate being the first and second books, respectively.

no. 8 - Hollow City by Ransom Riggs
This is yet another sequel-there are some awesome debuts coming out too, but a lot of my favorite series are finishing- but this is the sequel to Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. I read Miss Peregrine's in October, and I really enjoyed the book. The photos and story perfectly combined, and I am definitely excited for the sequel.

no. 7 - Midnight Thief by Livia Blackburne
I reviewed the prequel novella to this book, Poison Dance, in November, and I definitely think that Midnight Thief is going to be a great 2014 read. In Poison Dance we were introduced to a character who will be in Midnight Thief, and I can't wait to see him again with all the new characters!

no. 6 - The Iron Trial by Cassandra Clare and Holly Black
A new series written by two of my favorite authors? I have loved TMI and TID, and I read Coldest Girl in Coldtown this year as well as reading the Spiderwick Chronicles years ago. I can't wait to read their collaboration.

no. 5 - Dreams of Gods and Monsters by Laini Taylor
This is the conclusion of the Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy. This series is just written beautifully- the wording and flow of the books is honestly artistic. Kaoru is awesome, and I wanted to dye my hair peacock blue after reading Daughter of Smoke and Bone. I'm going to be sad to be saying goodbye to these books, but I'm really curious to see how everything's going to turn out after reading Days of Blood and Starlight.

no. 4 - Ruin and Rising by Leigh Bardugo
The Grisha trilogy is concluding in 2014. I'm going to be sad to see it go- this is a really unique high fantasy series. The characters are really well developed and I'm already wondering how they are going to turn out in this series's conclusion.

no. 4 - The Retribution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin
This psychological thrilling, supernatural series is kind of hard to label if you didn't get that from the mish mash of a genre I just made up for it. This is an incredible series; I've never really read anything like it. Mara Dyer has really become a strong character and she's going to do a lot in the final book.

no. 3 - Ignite Me by Tahehreh Mafi
This is the last book in the Shatter Me trilogy. I love this series. Juliet is so unique, and her development is seen in the very writing style of this book. It's great to have grown with all these characters and I'm so ready for this book.

no. 2 - Unhinged by A.G. Howard
Picking between Unhinged and my number one pick was really difficult, but since no. 1 is a conclusion of a series I've been following for years I figured it had earned that spot. However, don't let that reflect on Unhinged, which is the sequel to my favorite book of 2013, Splintered. Splintered was one of the best books I've read, and I can't wait to read more.

no. 1 - City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare
I can't believe that a series I've followed for years and has become such a staple to my bookshelf is ending. I'm really, really excited and also really, really nervous. If Clockwork Princess was full of feels, I can't even imagine how much more The Mortal Instruments, which is my favorite of her series, is going to have feels. Another reason I'm really nervous? The tag changed from 'Will love be their salvation?' to 'Who will survive?' so needless to say, Cassie has made me really nervous.

I'm going to have to make a post about 2014 debuts I'm excited for, since this list is predominantly sequels to series I've loved for years. What books are you excited for? 2014 is going to be a great reading year!

From a paper world,
V

    1. I love those series; there are a lot of great sequels coming in 2014! Also I saw your list: I loved reading Cinder, I'm probably going to pick up Scarlet soon. I can't wait for Cress either! And I'm excited for The One as well, I just wasn't the biggest fan of The Elite. Awesome list :)

  2. There are so many on your list that I need to read the earlier books in the series, like Shatter Me and Shadow & Bone. I own both of those but have yet to read them! Great list!
