Waiting on Wednesday - Hollow City by Ransom Riggs
It's Wednesday again! So what am I waiting on lately? If this is your first time at Waiting on Wednesday, this is a weekly feature or meme hosted over at Breaking the Spine. Let's talk about Hollow City by Ransom Riggs, the sequel to Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. Miss Peregrine's is a really well known book, filled with vintage photography that Ransom Riggs perfectly fits into his story and characters. I read Miss Peregrine's back in October, originally thinking it might be good if not a little spooky. It definitely wasn't as spooky as I had expected, but it was fantastic regardless! I really appreciated the attention to detail Riggs had in this book: if he was going to include actual photos in his book, he did it the right way here. Everything fit, but didn't feel too forced. But, enough about Miss Peregrine's, let's talk about its sequel, Hollow City.
Hollow City is going to be releasing in January of 2014, so thankfully the wait is not much longer! Miss Peregrine's was actually released way back in 2011. I constantly saw it around and picked it up, but never got it until late 2012 or early 2013. I'm so glad I got around to this and enjoyed it a lot, and I am ready for a sequel. I remember being confused about the long gap between books. But when I thought about it for a moment, I realized that we aren't talking about an ordinary book. Ransom Riggs has to go on a scavenger hunt to find these photos and have them fit into the storyline he's already created. He's done an admirable job so far, I have nothing but great expectations for this sequel. What's a book you're waiting on?
Oh yes, very excited for this one too! It feels like we've been waiting ages for this one to release, so glad it's soon. :) Great pick! Bonnie @ For the Love of Words
I know! It's understandable though, since he has to perfectly fit all the photos to the book. And he does such an amazing job with it too! Can't wait to see what happens, especially because of where he left Miss Peregrine's Home off. Thanks for stopping by :)
I've kind of shied away from Miss Peregrine's because I was worried about the spookiness. But I'm glad to hear that it wasn't as spooky as you thought it would be! I might have to give it a try.
Thank you for taking the time to comment. I love getting comments and responding, so thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts! Thank you so much for stopping by, I truly appreciate it!

ReplyDeleteHi again! No it wasn't very spooky at all; to me it's more historical fiction. There were spooky moments but it's not a horror novel at all :)
DeleteI really want to read the first book but haven't yet, I need to get on that! Nice choice!
