Reading Review - Sweet Reckoning by Wendy Higgins

*this is a 3rd book in the Sweet Evil series. Spoilers for the first two ahead!*
It’s time.

Evil is running rampant and sweet Anna Whitt is its target. Nobody knows when or how the Dukes will strike, but Anna and her Nephilim allies will do anything necessary to rid the earth of the demons and their oppressive ways.

The stakes are higher than ever, and Anna is determined that the love she feels will be her strength, not a liability. But trying to protect the ones she loves while running for her life and battling demonic forces proves to be perilous—especially as faces are changing and trust is fleeting. When the Duke of Lust sends Anna’s great love, Kaidan Rowe, to work against her, Anna must decide how much she’s prepared to risk.

In the most sensual and fast-paced installment yet, Sweet Reckoning brings all the beloved Neph together one last time to fight for their freedom.

Rating - 4 Stars
Major Pros - Great Conclusion, Character Arcs
Major Cons - Minor inconsistencies
Continuing on with the series? If only there were more books! Definitely Sweet Temptation, though.
How I Read It - Gifted

Another series has come to a close for me, and so today I'm sharing my thoughts on the final book in the Sweet Evil trilogy, Sweet Reckoning by Wendy Higgins. This entire trilogy is a unique paranormal with memorable characters and an intense overarching storyline.

I was really happy with how this series came together in the final installment. Anna was a wonderful lead, and she has stayed true to her character while still developing as she went through the series. After the crazy events in Sweet Peril, Anna and co. deal with the aftermath and everything they've worked for in this novel. The pacing was well done, and the story never dragged. I was surprised by how content I was with the overall character development and the completion of various character development and arcs that shaped the cast of this series into who they were for this final book. The supporting characters were interesting and had story lines that didn't detract from the main one, yet still provided other occurrences that were happening throughout the story.

A series ending book is one that has a lot resting upon it. Sweet Reckoning was a great conclusion to a unique series. It was full of unexpected twists and turns, and I was kept intrigued throughout the course of the story. At some points I thought there were some sudden changes in the characterization of the supporting characters, but these moments were very far and few between and didn't detract from my overall enjoyment of the story.

Sweet Reckoning is a final installment that doesn't disappoint and fit well with the tone of the rest. There's adventure, romance, and a good conclusion to be found, and I'm looking forward to Sweet Temptation and seeing some of Sweet Evil from Kai's perspective.

From the paper world,
V
