Bout of Books 9.0 - Day no. 1 Update

It is Bout of Books time, and today I have an update for you guys. I'm not done reading for the day, but I have gotten some done so I thought I would share with you guys. Today, I had the enormous good fortune to get my copy of Unhinged early so, as you can imagine, I've been finding that one hard to put down. I have, however, set it down at points to start Angelfall by Susan Ee. I'm reading this over with Kerrie and so far I'm loving both of these books. I'm really happy about that, and I can't wait to read some more tonight. But for now, let's have a quick update...

Books Read - None completed yet
Currently Reading Book (s) - Angelfall by Susan Ee and Unhinged by A.G. Howard
Total Books Completed - None completed yet
Pages Read Today - 164
Total Page Count - 164

So, it's a decent start to the readathon, and I still have some more time to finish up more. Let me know how your reading's going!

My Can't Wait Books of 2014

On my Goodreads, I got so excited for so many books that are coming out next year, I ended up creating a specific shelf to highlight the 2014 releases I'm most excited for. I thought it would be fun to share that with you all today. These are just some of the books I'm excited for next year, and a lot of these are sequels, but I thought this would be a chance to talk about our favorite series and upcoming sequels, as well as a few debuts I'm excited for as well. There are 35 books in this list, so description is going to be kept to a minimum, but each will have a Goodreads link so you can view their details there.
So, in no particular order...

A Series in Summation - The Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins

Since Catching Fire released this past year, I thought it would be appropriate to talk about my thoughts of the Hunger Games Trilogy. I'm going to be straightforward- I was not a fan of this book series. I did read them and read them back to back because I was interested in them, and later heard that the movies were being made. The books never really grabbed me, though. Katniss was a character that I couldn't connect to. But, we'll look at that as we get into the individual books. For the film, I will say Catching Fire is fantastic-very accurate and incredibly well done. Anyways, on to the reviews!

What I'm Looking Forward To - Most Anticipated Book Releases for January 2014

Hello! Welcome to a new year, and a new series here on Paper Worlds and Swirls of Ink. Since there are so many books I'm looking forward to in the upcoming year, I thought that it would be fun to organize them into monthly posts, and I've checked out my Goodreads to bring you my list for this month!

Bout of Books 9.0 - The Goals

Who's ready for Bout of Books? I know I am! I'm so excited to be participating in my first Bout of Books! Basically, this sounds like a really fun week long marathon, and I know that a lot of people are planning on participating! I thought I would share my goals for this BoB. Interested in seeing what I plan to read?

The 5 Star Spotlight - Splintered by A.G. Howard

Today we are going to be talking about another book that I enjoyed. Splintered by A.G. Howard is an Alice in Wonderland retelling unlike any other I'd read. This darker interpretation is filled with magic, intrigue, and characters that you love and yet can't trust. This is my favorite book that I've read in 2013, and it definitely had some amazing competition for that. However, Splintered takes the cake, and read on to see why!

Reading Challenges - 2014 Prequel & Sequel Challenge

Welcome back to another episode of joining a ton of reading challenges for 2014! Looking at the books I want to read this year, all of the challenges I've been signing up for have really been fitting my TBR perfectly. This particular challenge is The 2014 Prequel & Sequel Challenge. This is yet another challenge I heard about through Elizziebooks and although I keep linking her Youtube channel when I mention her, I actually heard about these blog. This challenge is going to complement my participation in the TBR Pile Challenge and some prequel novellas for the 2014 debuts I'm reading for the Debut Author Challenge. (If you're curious about any of those, the buttons are in the sidebar, and clicking on those takes you directly to the sign ups) I'm still a little uncertain about the scoring details, but I've linked the sign ups so you can read them as well. Regardless, this will definitely be the cause of quite a few Series in Summations that will be coming to you guys this year. I'm really excited about that because I like writing those features, but didn't think I'd be able to in light of my other challenges.

January 2014 TBR

Happy New Year! I hope that this new year is wonderful for you all, and I know that reading wise there are already so many awesome books coming out that I can't wait to read. However, January is going to be a little bit crazy for a reading month. Firstly, I'm going to be participating in a Read-A-Thon that I'll be telling you about later on this month, and I've also got a mini themed TBR as well as some books coming out this month that I just have to read. So, let's talk about a stack of books I'll hopefully be getting to in this first month of 2014.

Another Reading Challenge! - The Story Siren's 2014 Debut Authors Challenge

This is a bit of an improvised post, but welcome back to Paper Worlds and Swirls of Ink! Today, the Paper World is joining The Story Siren's 2014 Debut Author Challenge. As you may now, or have seen in the sidebar, I love joining various Readathons, Challenges, and other reading activities. I heard about this from Elizziebooks when she mentioned it on Twitter. Being the sort that I am, I immediately set out to join. And when I checked out this challenge, I knew it was perfect for me. I've been looking at Goodreads 'YA Debuts of 2014' Listopias since October of 2013. Needless to say, I'm excited. Because so many of my favorite series are ending this year, I wanted to learn about a lot of debut books as well. I've challenged myself to finish series and begin them this year. So, this is perfect!

Waiting on Wednesday - City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare

Happy New Year! It's Waiting on Wednesday! This weekly meme is from Breaking the Spine. I'm just going to get straight into the book for this week: it's a series near and dear to my heart. This week's very special spotlight is on City of Heavenly Fire, the final book in the Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare. I thought this would be a wonderful post to start the New Year with, as this series is very dear to me and has been for quite some time.
