Waiting on Wednesday - City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare

Happy New Year! It's Waiting on Wednesday! This weekly meme is from Breaking the Spine. I'm just going to get straight into the book for this week: it's a series near and dear to my heart. This week's very special spotlight is on City of Heavenly Fire, the final book in the Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare. I thought this would be a wonderful post to start the New Year with, as this series is very dear to me and has been for quite some time.

I can't believe this series is almost over. I've been reading- and fangirling- over the Mortal Instruments for over four years. It's been one of my favorite series since I started. I would definitely suggest it to any YA fan. There's a character in here for everyone to love- whether it's a super tough, cool Shadowhunter or a glittery, fabulous warlock. And some memorable cat characters as well, if I may say. This is Cassandra Clare's first series, and it's kind of bittersweet to end. She is definitely not leaving the Shadowhunter world behind, however, and there are many series in this universe. The Infernal Devices is her prequel trilogy that is set in Victorian London and follows some young Shadowhunters there as well as one mysterious Tessa Gray. I loved this trilogy for its ties to the Mortal Instruments, and its tragic yet wonderful characters. This trilogy was written in between a few of the Mortal Instruments books, and it finished up in the spring of 2013. A lot of people prefer this series to the Mortal Instruments, but I prefer TMI. It's been my go-to books for years, and the characters and settings feel like home. After this series (sadly!) wraps up, Cassandra Clare has plans to create The Dark Artifices, which will begin to release in 2015, and also a series that is under the abbreviation of TLH, which we've only gotten snippets of. There's more in this world, but let's focus back on COHF.
I'm really sad to see this series go. I'm going to miss everyone terribly, they are books that I've grown really attached to. This series originally brought me and some of my friends together when they picked up the books a few years back. Soon enough, we were all fangirling together. I love books like that, that bring people together. So, it's sad to see the series end, but I'll love one more adventure with everyone. What's a book you're looking forward to?

From a paper world,
V

    1. Sunny my dear, reading that made me realize two things. One, we're getting old. Two, a beautiful friendship is one based on books. What a wonderful life :)
