Booktube to Blogspot - Booktube Survey 2013 Tag

Booktube has so many awesome tags that I enjoy watching, so Booktube to Blogspot is a series I've created to do some of these tags as well. This month, Sunny and I did the Book Sacrifice on her channel, and I've got quite a few of these I've been wanting to do, so I hope you enjoy! This tag is the Booktube Survey Tag, and it was created by Cool Beans Books and I saw this over at BooKss101, and she added a question in and said that the point of the tag is to add a question at the end for others to answer as well, so stay tuned for that!
Let's get straight into the questions, and talk about some bookish things I read this year.

Unhinged (Splintered, #2)no. 1 - Favorite character of the year
I discovered my favorite character quite early on this year- January to be exact. Yes, it is the character that I've raved about constantly on this blog, and it is Morpheus from the Splintered series by A.G. Howard. He's magical, very much a wild Wonderlander, yet still an incredible character. Morpheus graces the cover of Splintered's sequel, Unhinged, so I've included that to give you an idea of how awesome he is!

That Time I Joined the Circusno. 2 - Least favorite character
Ruby Red (Precious Stone Trilogy, #1)This was a tough one, but I think that my least favorite character would have to be Eli from That Time I Joined the Circus by J. J. Howard. He was the only problem I had with that book. He was the only reason it got 3 stars from me. Eli was definitely the character I disliked most this year. Although honorable mention goes to Charlotte from the Precious Stone trilogy. I've read Ruby Red and Sapphire Blue, and can I just say she acts like a posh, nose in the air brat? Wow, Charlotte, you aren't as important as everyone told you, and someone else has a life. Deal with it.

Grave Mercy (His Fair Assassin, #1)no. 3 - 2 books you've enjoyed
The Immortal Circus: Act One (Cirque des Immortels, #1)Alright, we're going to talk about two books other than the obvious (*cough* Splintered) and talk about 2 books I've yet to mention here. The first is Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers. This was a book I read at the very beginning of the year, and I appreciated the attention to detail and story, and there were really good characters. I haven't yet read the sequel, but Dark Triumph is a lot shorter than Grave Mercy! Another book I really enjoyed was The Immortal Circus by A.R. Kahler. This was originally a Kindle serial, so I enjoyed waiting for an episode to release. The actual book itself was good too, I need to read the sequel soon because a lot happens in the first book that I want to see resolved.

Iceno. 4 - 2 books you've hated
Frostbite (Vampire Academy, #2)There were some books I really couldn't enjoy this year. The first is Ice by Sarah Beth Durst. Whiniest. Protagonist. Ever. I can't believe I finished this book, I really hated the protagonist Cassie, which is really a shame because I typically enjoy East of the Sun West of the Moon retellings. If you're looking for a good retelling, I'd suggest East by Edith Pattou. Another book that was bad was Frostbite by Richelle Mead. Now, here's how I read this book: I read through it very quickly, came to the big conflict, didn't realize it was the big conflict, kept reading, wondered when the main story was going to happen, and glanced down to see my Kindle telling me the story was 98% over. I promise I'm not kidding. This was the weakest book by far in the Vampire Academy series to me. It felt like nothing happened.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013) Posterno. 5 - Favorite BTM (book to movie) Adaptation
Catching Fire (The Hunger Games, #2)I'm sure this is going to be most people's answer, but CATCHING FIRE OH MY GOSH. I'm not the biggest Hunger Games fan, but Catching Fire was my favorite book, and the accuracy of this movie was astounding! The first time I saw the arena in the movie I squealed because it looked exactly, down to details, how I'd pictured it while reading. And that was incredible. I loved this movie. It was incredible, and very true to story, so it was such a treat to see! Also, can we just appreciate Jennifer Lawrence's acting in this movie? Her face at the end, her portrayal of how emotionally damaged Katniss was after the first book/movie, her loyalty to her friends and family...INCREDIBLE!! An amazing book to movie adaptation!

no. 6 - Least favorite book to movie adaption
I'm not going to lie, I think Catching Fire was the only adaptation I've seen so far this year. There are so many I have to see, but that's the only one for now. So...this question is going to not have a recipient.

Lady Thief (Scarlet, #2)no. 7 - Book you're looking forward to the release of next year
Alright, keeping with this post's trend of talking about books that aren't already talked about constantly on this blog? I'm going to say Lady Thief by A. C. Gaughen. This is the sequel to Scarlet, which is an awesome Robin Hood retelling. Except guess what? Will Scarlet is a girl! And she's awesome, and after the ending of the last book, I've been so excited for news of a sequel, and it's slated for a 2014 release!

Poison Study (Study, #1)no. 8 - New author you've discovered
I read the Poison Study series by Maria Snyder this year, and yes I've already talked about this series a lot, but I really loved it, and I'm still so excited that there are 3 more books coming out starting in 2014! It's kind of a dream come true, since this series was really great. I'm so glad I picked her books up this year, Poison Study is my favorite of the series, and it was a fantastic read! It's very fast paced, and Yelena is an awesome heroine, and Valek, Ari, Janco, and everyone else made an awesome group of characters as well!

The Fault in Our Stars

no. 9 - Favorite OTP
Augustus Waters and Hazel Grace from The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
These two, you guys. They're absolutely adorable! Hazel and Augustus have an awesome relationship. Augustus is hilarious but also very thoughtful, and Hazel's got a dry humor that he understood and they both made me laugh. And cry. Crying is a recurring event in this book. But so is laughter. It's a pretty powerful book. But anyways, yes, Hazel and Augustus are the best!

That Time I Joined the Circusno. 10 - Least favorite OTP
Eli and Lexi from That Time I Joined the Circus
I'm going to keep this as spoiler free as possible. So let's just say Eli's a jerk. He treats Lexi terribly. And I never liked any talk of them, or scenes with them, or Eli in general. Since this is spoiler free as possible, I'm ending the mini rant there.

no. 11 - Favorite book to TV adaption
...yeah I couldn't find anything.

no. 12 - Least favorite book to TV adaption
...still nothing.

no. 13 - New Booktubers you've discovered
There are so, so many! Last year the only Booktuber I really watched was Christine of Polandbananasbooks. This year I subscribed to so many! I'm thinking of starting a series with a monthly spotlight of my favorite Booktubers, but just to name a few, Katytasic, Ariel Bissett, cozyteareads, BooKs101, Peruse Project...Ok I should probably due a Booktuber spotlight. Let me know if you have any ideas for a name for that series!

no. 14 - New book habit you've formed
I've started buying so many books this year. I would normally buy one or two, but now I'll walk out with 3 to 5. And I go to bookstores even more than I did last year, and that's saying something. Also, I started book blogging...I type at on a blog post for my book blog.

no. 15 - Fav series/trilogies of the year?
This was the question added by Miranda, or BooKss101, and I really enjoyed the Percy Jackson series. I read them this year, back to back, and they were a lot of fun, so I would definitely say those.

now...for the question I'm adding.
Favorite book cover of the year?
Splintered (Splintered, #1)
Apparently, it's not a post here on Paper Worlds and Swirls of Ink if we don't mention Splintered. Multiple times.

So there's the tag! Comment with your answers if you'd like, or if you've done it, what was a question you added?

From a paper world,
V
