Top 10 of 2013 - Best Books I've Read in 2013

Ah, the end of the year posts. It's always fun to look back at what I've read this year and appreciate the books that made it special. This post is part of a series I heard about over on Fiktshun, a series called Top 10 of 2013. This week, expect a post every day looking back on this year, and at the end, even looking forward to the next. This day's theme was the Top 10 Books I've Read in 2013.
I was actually able to put these in order, with the 1. book being my favorite book of this entire year. All 10 of these were fantastic, however, and I'd definitely recommend them, I just happened to have some special favorites this year. Also, you'll be able to see most of these on the sidebar where I have my Goodreads 'Favorites' shelf displayed as well! Without further ado, let's jump in!

The Collector (Dante Walker, #1)no 10. - The Collector by Victoria Scott
The characters in this book were phenomenal- they were so real and refreshingly different for the YA genre. I really loved reading about Dante, Charlie, and everyone in the book. Also, the sequel is really good as well!

Siege and Storm (The Grisha, #2)
no. 9 - Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo
This was a fantastic sequel to Shadow and Bone. It kept the incredible world that had been built in the first, and also had a lot of character development. I can't wait for Ruin and Rising!

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (Miss Peregrine, #1)
no. 8 - Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs
I loved this book because it was so unexpected. Also, the pictures are seamlessly written into the story and fit perfectly with the characters and the world.

The Last Olympian (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, #5)no. 7 - The Last Olympian by Rick Riordan
I finally read Percy Jackson and the Olympians series this year. I picked this book because it was an incredible ending to the first series, and it was amazing to see how the main story came together.

Clockwork Princess (The Infernal Devices, #3)no. 6 - Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare
The end of the Infernal Devices was amazing. I stayed up all night reading it and fangirling over it with my friends. Oh, and the epilogue? So. Many. Tears. This book was beautifully done.

The Night Circus

no. 5 - The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
I loved the description and world building in this book. It was amazing but never overtook the plot or the characters. Instead, it complemented them beautifully. It was incredibly well written.

Unravel Me (Shatter Me, #2)no. 4 - Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi
This was another incredible sequel. It added so much to the story, and I really loved seeing more of the characters, especially Warner. I think that this book along with his novella, Destroy Me, really bring a lot to his character.

Poison Study (Study, #1)no. 3 - Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder
This was such a fast paced read. It grabbed me from the first page, and was this unique and engrossing world. P.S. on Goodreads I saw that there are 3 new books slated to be released for this series in the upcoming years. More of the Poison Study series? Yes, please!

The Fault in Our Stars

no. 2 - The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
This book was incredible. It's so powerful, and there are lines that made me pause and reread them just to admire the writing and the thoughts. This is a beautiful story.

Splintered (Splintered, #1)no. 1 - Splintered by A.G. Howard
What can I say? This book had everything I could want in it- a darker, beautiful fairy tale, incredible characters (Morpheus may be my favorite but really, all the characters are incredible), and a fantastic plot. This was one amazing book.

So, there you have my top 10 books of the year. You'll be seeing a blog post for the Top 10 of 2013 every day this week, so hope you enjoy!

From a paper world,
V
